While you are teaching your dog this behavior, remember not to take him back into the house right away after he has finished his business because he will see it as a punishment for pooping outside. instead, you need to give him a lot of praise, toss the ball once or twice or walk him down the street and back to let him sniff his potty spot for about a minute.. Dogs really do prefer a soft, dry spot to poop. make sure you shovel a path in the grass so that they do not have to stand in the snow while they go. to make that potty spot even more comfortable, you can lay out an old shower curtain in the grass before the snowfall, then lift it after the snowstorm stops to reveal a dry spot.. Try and take him outside at the same times each day. his bowel movements will probably see to it that he needs to go about 20 minutes after a meal, so try and always be outside then. if he knows he’s about to go outside he’ll start holding it..
Put your dog into their crate right away, or keep them close to you on their leash so they do not sneak off and poop. in 10 to 15 minutes, take your dog outside again. repeat until they poop. only after they poop outside, should you allow them to run around and play freely. when your dog won’t poop in the snow or rain. Crate training. if your dog waits to come back home to poop, put them in the crate instead and then walk them outside again. do this again and again until your dog will have no choice but to poop outside. usually, after the first time they poop outside, your dog will get used to it and shouldn’t give any more problems.. Attach a command to the act of elimination. when your dog is still a puppy, begin training him to eliminate on command. to do this, bring your dog to the area where you want him to eliminate, be it a spot in the yard, a doggy litter box, puppy pee pee pads or simply a newspaper spread out. give a command such as "go potty" or "hurry.".
